Comfort Zone
RMIT Graduate Exhibition, 2013
Found Festival, Magdelan Laundry - Abbotsford Convent, 2014
"The lust for comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house a guest, and then becomes a host, and then a master" - Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Woollen blankets are embedded with an emotional history, 'transitional objects' and signifiers of comfort and worth. Comfort Zone evokes both nostalgic and physical memories, providing a gently immersive environment that encourages sensory engagement, comfort and reflection. Made through intuitive processes with natural and readily available materials, this installation is a personal journey through physical trauma and the lengths undergone to alleviate pain to find a place of relief and contentment.
